Discovering Conference & Meeting Venues Near Bristol: Site Visit Highlights

Planning your next corporate event or conference outside of the city? I recently had the pleasure of exploring four wonderful venues just outside Bristol that are ideal for your conferences, meetings and events.

Three Standout Venues for Your Consideration

De Vere Tortworth Court

A Perfect Blend of Victorian Grandeur and Modern Functionality

Just 20 minutes from Bristol, this magnificent Grade II* listed Victorian mansion sits majestically within 30 acres of beautifully landscaped parkland. The venue strikes an impressive balance between historic charm and contemporary meeting needs, making it ideal for everything from executive retreats to large conferences.

What Makes It Special: The venue boasts 14 flexible event spaces, with the stunning Westminster Suite as the crown jewel, accommodating up to 400 delegates theatre-style. For a truly magical experience, The Orangery—a beautifully restored 1874 Victorian conservatory—offers natural light and outdoor dining opportunities for up to 100 guests.

Accommodation & Amenities: With 201 bedrooms (including 55 premium Mansion House rooms), plus an on-site spa, gym, indoor pool, and extensive leisure facilities, your delegates will have everything they need for a comfortable residential conference.

Green Credentials: Tortworth takes sustainability seriously, offering carbon offset options and eco-friendly delegate activities like creating birdhouses or bug hotels. They even participate in ocean cleanup initiatives!

Getting There: Excellent transport links with Bristol Parkway nearby, easy M5 access (J14), and over 200 parking spaces plus coach bays.

What Lyndsey loved:

The TIPI setup nestled in the grounds, with expansive outdoor area and loads of seating scattered throughout.  The trendy Airstream food service is such a brilliant touch as is the ice cream bike you can also hire for your event!  This whole setup is a great alternative to your typical summer BBQ with lights, the bonus being that it’s next to the main meeting room for your DJ and complete wet weather option, enabling you to keep your numbers at max capacity.  Nina dealt with the bookings I had for two different clients, both with different requirements that happened to be taking place at the same time so was great having the consistency of one contact for all my requirements.

Bowood Hotel, Spa & Golf Resort

Luxury Countryside Setting with Championship Golf Views

Nestled within the stunning Bowood Estate near Calne, Wiltshire, this venue offers breathtaking views across a PGA Championship golf course and rolling countryside. It’s the perfect choice when you want to combine business with a touch of luxury in a tranquil setting.

What Makes It Special: The purpose-built Kerry Suite accommodates up to 240 delegates and cleverly divides into three breakout rooms. All meeting spaces feature natural daylight and direct access to outdoor terraces—perfect for refreshing breaks or evening receptions under the stars.

Unique Experiences: Exclusive private evening access to Bowood House & Gardens creates unforgettable opportunities for gala dinners and client entertainment. Team-building options include golf clinics, country pursuits, and wellness sessions throughout the estate.

Sustainability Focus: The venue operates with renewable energy, maintains a zero landfill policy, and incorporates estate-grown produce into their catering.

Getting There: Less than an hour from Bristol and easily accessible from London via the M4 (J17).

What Lyndsey loved:  A big thanks goes first to Jontjë Cunliffe-Lister

Managing Director of  HRH (Highly Recommended Hotels) who invited me on this fam trip after we had been in conversation about a client potentially using the hotel.  The additional activities on site and at the neighbouring House and Gardens are fantastic. We were treated to our own private guided tour of the House and Gardens, which can be tailored from a quick 30-minute visit if you’re pressed for time, or seamlessly woven into your event program. A short, scenic buggy ride connects the hotel to the house, making it effortless to incorporate into your conference schedule. The stunning Capability Brown gardens, productive kitchen gardens, and enchanting secret garden are absolutely unmissable – they provide the perfect escape from life’s hustle and bustle, creating an ideal backdrop for inspiring walk-and-talk sessions or peaceful networking breaks.  Thanks also to Cheryl at Bowood Hotel for the site visit, hosting dinner and wonderful overnight stay.

Aztec Hotel & Spa

Modern Business-Focused Venue with Excellent Connectivity

Located at Aztec West Business Park, this contemporary venue is perfectly positioned just off the M4/M5 junctions north of Bristol. It’s designed with business in mind, offering practical solutions without sacrificing style or comfort.

What Makes It Special: With 21 flexible meeting spaces accommodating everything from intimate interviews to 200-delegate conferences, Aztec offers impressive versatility. The innovative “meet-in pods” are perfect for agile working and breakout sessions, while the dedicated conference café keeps networking flowing with unlimited refreshments..

Modern Amenities: 128 contemporary bedrooms plus 36 additional rooms at The Lodge next door ensure plenty of accommodation options. Delegates enjoy complimentary spa and leisure club access—a great way to unwind after productive sessions.

Practical Benefits: Ample on-site parking (including EV charging points), excellent motorway access, and an experienced events team who understand corporate needs inside and out.

What Lyndsey liked:  The staff! (and steak!). This was a last-minute visit and in just over 24 hrs I was at the hotel, booked in and on a site visit.  The hotels real uniqueness is their ‘going over and above’ ethos.

I met with Katie Hall, their fabulous Sales Exec for a site visit who, despite the last-minute arrangements by me, had looked up my website, seen I mentioned Gin and I had one waiting in my room, she read I also mentioned chocolate, she had some waiting in my room.  She made sure I knew where everything was in the hotel for me personally during my stay as well as my venue finding requirements, she kept offering me drinks and food! (I can recommend the berry smoothie which we refreshingly walked around with on such a hot day!) Then sat down with me and went through her prepared questions on how we can work together.  I came away with so many ideas for clients, fully rested, and I can also recommend the Steak for dinner outside on the patio!

Eastwood Park Country House

Dedicated Conference Centre and Country Manor House in Beautiful Gloucestershire Countryside

Set within 200 acres of beautiful Gloucestershire countryside, Eastwood Park provides a peaceful setting for conferences, events, and corporate gatherings. This stunning 19th century country house combines the charm of a historic property with the focused facilities of a dedicated conference and training centre.

What Makes It Special: With 16 conference and meeting rooms accommodating up to 120 delegates, plus 70 bedrooms, Eastwood Park offers excellent flexibility for residential conferences. The versatile range of conference and training rooms creates the ideal environment for assessment centres, recruitment days, and focused business meetings.

Outdoor Opportunities: The extensive gardens and grounds provide excellent space for team building events and corporate functions, while expansive woodlands within the grounds offer opportunities for adventurous team building activities.

Accommodation: With 70 bedrooms, the venue can comfortably host up to 120 guests, making it perfect for residential conferences and multi-day training programs.

Getting There: Located in South Gloucestershire with easy access to Bristol, Bath, and the M4/M5 corridors.

What Lyndsey liked:  Thanks to Kerry for showing me around the venue earlier in the year.  The venue has two parts, a modern building which is an NHS training ground.  I saw the country manor property, a separate area, which is opening up more to corporate business during the week.  It’s beautifully quiet with stunning views of the 200 acres plus surrounding countryside and farm land.  Rates are extremely competitive and Kerry at the hotel is an absolute gem, even taking me back to the train station so we could chat enabling us to catch up on the way back instead of a taxi.  Kerry then recently supported a group booking that took place with numerous last-minute alterations!

Why These Venues Stand Out

Each of these venues offers something unique, but they all share key strengths that make corporate events successful:

Accessibility: Easy reach from Bristol, London, Bath, Gloucester, and across the South West, with excellent transport links and ample parking.

Flexibility: Diverse spaces, from intimate boardrooms to large conference spaces, with professional breakout options.

Service Excellence: Dedicated, experienced teams who understand corporate requirements and go the extra mile to ensure smooth events.

Inspiring Settings: Beautiful countryside locations that help delegates focus, be creative, and truly engage with your content.  All venues enabled walk and talk scenarios with some offering hundreds (and Bowood had thousands) of acres.

Complete Solutions: On-site accommodation, professional AV equipment, high-speed Wi-Fi, comprehensive catering options with various rates throughout the four venues to suit all budgets.

Making Your Choice

Whether you’re drawn to Tortworth Court’s Victorian elegance, Bowood’s luxury resort atmosphere, Aztec’s modern business focus, or Eastwood Park’s dedicated training environment, each venue delivers the essentials while adding their own special touch. The key is matching the venue’s character with your event objectives, delegate expectations and of course budget.
