Reflecting on the Past, Envisioning the Future
With the summer holidays a distant memory and a new academic term well underway, this time of year always presents the perfect opportunity for me to re-set, look ahead and put plans in place for the remainder of the year and beyond. As our industry naturally slows down during the summer months, it offers me a forced break from what has, quite frankly, been a crazy year so far! Not that I’m complaining, the return to live events post Covid has seen yet another huge uplift this year and one that I am so thankful for.
The Importance of Taking Stock
Allowing myself to stop and take stock of the year to date is so important, both personally and professionally. Not only does it allow me to see what has worked (and what hasn’t) but it helps me to look ahead, plan and ensure that my business is headed in the right direction. It also allows me the space to have essential family time and to ensure that cup is well and truly filled for us all before a new term kicks in and chaotic routines resume!
The Art of Event Planning: Preparation is Key
When it comes to booking events, we all know that planning ahead is the best way to ensure that every box is ticked, nothing is forgotten and (hopefully!) all will run as it should. This doesn’t always follow suit and there will always be those best laid plans that don’t go as they should but generally, being organized does pay dividends! The early bird really does catch the worm and planning ahead will also offer the pick of the crop when it comes to sourcing the best venues. The earlier I am able to contact a venue for rates, the more likely it is that they will have availability and I will be able to secure you the ideal space, at the right price. Being organized and securing dates early is also recommended when it comes to planning budgets; as with anything, costs naturally increase the closer you are to the event date and so locking in rates early can help to avoid spending more than you need to. It also ensures your attendees and speakers have the date in their diaries in advance and can plan accordingly. Plus if you need any more reasons to plan ahead and to be organized, it’s worth remembering that if you’re looking to hold a staff incentive or social event, it gives your employees something to look forward to which can only help boost staff morale and make them feel valued. It’s a win win!
Exciting Prospects for 2024
I’m very happy to say that 2023 has been a bumper year to date for face-to-face events and 2024 looks set to surpass this which can only be a good thing. If you’re currently working on your future event schedule in London and the surrounding area and would like some help sourcing the right venues, then drop me a note below and I shall be in touch!
