Meet Our Dynamic Team for 2024: Park Lane Events’ Exciting New Chapter!

Reflecting on a Year of Triumphs: 2023 in Review

The start of a new year always offers the perfect time for reflection and looking back at 2023, it really was an amazing year for our industry. With the return of face-to-face events back in full swing, I’m very thankful to be able to say that the last 12 months have been a crazy busy time for Park Lane Events.

Overcoming Adversity: The Resurgence of Park Lane Events Post-Pandemic

It’s no secret that hospitality took a huge hit as a result of the pandemic; businesses were forced to close, jobs were lost and it really was a difficult time for so many, both personally and professionally. It was a very tough time for Park Lane Events – I lost all of my confirmed business overnight and all that I had worked so hard to build over the previous few years. However, those of you that know me, know that I don’t give up easily! The last two years have seen a gradual and steady re-build of my business with the support of friends, family and industry colleagues and I am delighted to share that as a result of this, my team at Park Lane Events is growing!

Introducing Our New Team Members: A Fresh Start for 2024

As a new year starts, I thought it was the prime opportunity to introduce the team officially and explain how they will be working alongside me in 2024.

Claire Woolston: Bringing Organisational Excellence to Park Lane Events

Prior to Christmas, Claire Woolston joined me as my PA, bringing with her a wealth of office experience to help keep me in check! From starting out as an Office Junior, Claire has progressed through PA, Event Coordinator and Project Administrator roles across numerous industry sectors and has already been a huge asset and help in organising my diary, helping with venue proposals and supporting me in my day-to-day at PLE HQ. Outside of her working day, she loves nothing more renovating her property, spending time with her husband and dog and is partial to a gin or two (aren’t we all?!) I’m sure many of you will be hearing from her at some point in 2024 as she settles into the role and makes contact.

Lee Harvey: The Digital Dynamo Behind Park Lane Events

Also joining the team is Lee Harvey who is supporting Park Lane Events with website updates, social media marketing and is a general super-hero when it comes to all things tech! With over 18 years’ experience in hotels in various roles across front office, meetings and events, reservation & revenue management, Lee is a font of all knowledge when it comes to our industry and has been an amazing behind-the-scenes support over the last few months as the business has grown. When he isn’t tinkering with websites, he can also be found walking his dogs, eating, eating, socialising and more eating!

Suzie Gray: The Financial Backbone of Park Lane Events

Supporting me from day one at Park Lane Events is Suzie Gray, a school friend of mine who has also been my accountant since the business began and is a constant support for all of my financial matters! Since 2000, she has worked as for Gregory Wildman in various roles around the practice and was delighted to have been given the opportunity to become a partner in June 2021; she now focusses on Management Accounts, CIS, covering VAT and payroll. When she isn’t crunching numbers, she loves spending time with her family, walking her chocolate lab ‘Buddy’ or Karate training (fun fact for you all – she’s a Black Belt and is working towards her next level of 2nd Dan Black Belt so be warned!)

Sarah Spreckley: The Voice Behind Our Stories

And last, but by no means least, is Sarah Spreckley. Sarah and I have worked with each other on various industry projects over the years prior to Covid and post pandemic, has been supporting Park Lane Events as my blog ghostwriter. She’s worked in the MICE sector for over twenty years and so understands our industry and can somehow always manage to articulate exactly what I want to say! When she’s not putting pen to paper, you’ll find her either on a sideline supporting her hockey mad family, walking her dog, eating out or also enjoying a gin or too (anyone else spotting a theme here?!).

The Director’s Note: Leading PLE into 2024

And as for me, as Director of PLE, my role in 2024 will mostly consist of doing what Claire tells me to do! I’ve worked in the industry for nearly 30 years, either on property, representing or researching hotels and venues in the UK and have definitely found my niche in the luxury London market. When I’m not visiting clients or conducting site visits, I love to spend time with my family exploring in our VW campervan as well as running and maintaining an acceptable amount of fitness around the luxuries that our industry brings! I’m pretty partial to a gin too (what a team we are!) and as for food, well it’s chocolate, chocolate and chocolate for me!!

Conclusion: Gratitude and Anticipation for the Future

So there we have it – a big thank you to Claire, Lee, Suzie and Sarah for your support in 2023. As well as looking back, the start of a new year also offers the perfect opportunity to look ahead and I’m so excited to see what 2024 will bring for us all!
