Reflecting on a Successful 2024 with Park Lane Events
As the countdown to Christmas begins, it feels like the perfect time to reflect on the last ten months at Park Lane Events and look ahead to what 2025 has in store. Taking a moment to look back on the year to date not only allows me to appreciate the journey we’ve been on, but it’s also the perfect opportunity to celebrate our successes and learn from the challenges we’ve faced as we look ahead to a new calendar year.
A Year of Growth and Stability in the Events Industry
Unlike 2022/2023, when the industry was still in the process of rebuilding post-pandemic, this year has brought a much-needed sense of stability which thankfully, looks set to continue into 2025. Many of the venues that I work with now have their event teams well established, meaning that there is a feeling of consistency when it comes to hosting events and knowing what my clients are likely to need. This shared understanding has not only led to quicker response times but it also means that there’s a level of trust that maybe wasn’t quite where it needed to be post pandemic. Interestingly, research carried out by Venue Verdict confirms that Q1 of 2024 saw response times finally back to 2019 levels with 86% of venues sending a proposal within 8 hours and 80% within 4 hours; I now feel fully confident knowing that my clients and their events are in capable hands and that the venues I work with will deliver the level of care and attention my clients expect.
Trends Shaping Corporate Events in 2025
As we move into 2025, certain trends have emerged in 2024 that definitely look set to grow in popularity over the forthcoming year. In my September webinar, I shared insights from a recent survey conducted by sports and events hospitality provider Keith Prowse, which revealed that time is considered the richest asset for over 78% of corporate and private clients. Those venues that are able to provide additional space and opportunities for attendees to unwind and recharge after a busy day will be highly sought after—especially when these amenities come at no extra cost!
Emerging Corporate Initiatives
It’s clear that a more holistic approach to events is emerging, with more emphasis on venues offering a more rounded delegate experience. Conference News recently featured several new wellness and retreat venues across the UK, encouraging event planners to incorporate ‘wellness experiences’ into their events. Similar research carried out by Hand Picked Hotels has also shown that 77% of their corporate bookers prioritise wellness when it comes to organizing off-site meetings and this has been reflected in the launch of their ‘Mindful Meetings’ packages in 2024 where breathing and relaxation techniques are incorporated into meetings to help nurture attendees physical and mental wellbeing. This focus on promoting a healthier work-life balance for delegates is definitely set to grow in popularity in 2025 as it not only enhances the overall delegate experience but it undoubtedly contributes to a much more productive (and happier!) workforce. Win Win!
Exciting Venue Developments to Watch
When it comes to venues, 2025 looks set to see plenty of investment across the UK which is exciting news for our industry. New venue openings and refurbishments are constantly taking place and it can sometimes be hard to keep up with who is spending what, where and when! Looking ahead to next year, London’s first Waldorf Astoria property is set to open in Admiralty Arch in 2025 after a five-year project and the transformed Olympia London will re-open having undergone a £1.3 bn investment, making it one of the largest regeneration projects in Europe. Outside of London, The Belfry Hotel & Resort in Sutton Coldfield is currently undergoing an £80m expansion and renovation with an expected completion date of autumn 2025, The Met in Leeds has just had a £17m refurb and The Francis in Bath has seen a £13m investment. From a venue finder perspective, new openings and refurbishments simply open up so more opportunities for amazing events and I’m excited to see what other developments are planned across the UK for the forthcoming months!
